Design Parameters

Due Smarch 29th

For this project you will be using Photoshop to design two (2) business advertisements. The first item you need to develop is signage that hangs out over the street at approximately 12 feet. This sign should be no bigger then 18 inches wide and 36 inches high.  It can be no thicker then 3 inches. It must weigh less then 50 pounds so that it can be securely fastened to the side of the building and not be too heavy to hang, but heavy enough to withstand the outdoor elements of wind and rain. In addition, you must make this first signage from some sort of metal. It can be stamped, folded or founded. It should be painted with colors that are easy to see yet blend in with the city surroundings.

The second signage is the easier of the two signs. This sign is predominantly 2 dimensional and should be thought of as a placard on the side of the building with your building number, address or name.  The actual length and width dimensions of this sign are up to you but it cannot exceed 1 inch in thickness. It must have some sort of hanging mechanism incorporated into its design so that it can be securely fashioned to the side of the building.  It can be made of nearly any material, from stone, to glass, to metal and to plastic. It must have easily identifiable characteristics that make it easy to identify, but should not overwhelm the environment that it is placed in.

You will have until the end of Smarch to turn in this creation. You will have to use one of the street scene pictures on the previous page and incorporate your design into that image. You will also have to hand in blueprints of your "hanging sign" and your "placard sign" in separate PSD's. All in all you should be handing in 3 items.  The "real-life" picture, and the two blueprints.  Don't worry about obtaining high definition pictures of the street scenes. I will supply you with those when needed.

Good luck with your creation.
